O, People! Fear God. He hears whatever you say and knows whatever you hide. Prepare yourselves for death. A death from which you try to escape will approach you. Even if you stay where you are, it will overcome you. It will remember you even if you forget it.
"O slaves of this world, woe to you! You carry lamps in sunlight, which is a sufficient light for you, while you leave them when you are in darkness, which is its proper time. In the same manner, you have used the illumination of knowledge for your worldly affairs while they are settled for you and have neglected using it for your affairs of the life to come for which you have been given that knowledge. You confess that the world to come is a true event but, in the meantime, you arrange for your world. You confess that death is a true even while you are escaping it. You confess that Allah hears and sees all your words and deeds but, in the meantime, you do not care for His recording your deeds for judgment. How can anyone who listens to your confessions and notices your deeds believe you?"
"We are the days and we shall be for as long as the heavens and the Earth are there! Sunday refers to Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali, Monday refers to al-Hassan and al-Husayn, Tuesday refers to Ali ibn Al-Husayn as-Sajjad, Muhammad ibn Ali al-Baqir and Ja’far ibn Muhammad as-Sadiq, Wednesday refers to Musa ibn Ja’far al-Kazim, Ali ibn Musa al-Reza, Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawad, and I, Thursday refers to my son al-Hassan ibn Ali and Friday refers to my grandson who shall gather all the followers of the truth together as a single party and fill the Earth with justice after it has become full of oppression. This is what ‘days’ refer to. Do not be our enemies so that we may not be your enemies in the Hereafter!"
Imam Ali an-Naqi (as) al-Khisal h. 7-102, p. 652-654
